it looks nice in the corner of my house. i thought the shade was glass, but it's actually plastic. not too crucial. it's only for decoration. it looks good.

The price is good, but the lamp leans and something on the bottom catches on to the rug and one has to tug the lamp up to get it released.
A 3-way fluorescent tube sticks out over the top of the frosted plastic bowl by 3 or 4 inches.

I bought two of these three-way floor lamps for office. The price was right and it was exactly what I was looking for. After assembling both lamps, I discovered that they were pretty flimsy. For starters, the shade is made from a soft plastic. I often worry that the heat from the bulbs will somehow burn a hole through it. Also, one lamp socket is faulty. It does not advance to the next highest wattage (and yes, a 3-way bulb was used). For the price, these lamps are average. They do what they were built to do. If you want something more durable and reliable, spend a little extra. I give this lamp 3 out of 5 stars.

It's really a bona fide cheap lamp, the shade being flimsy plastic that does not diffuse light very well. Just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it has to be so poorly done...
