Amazon.com Item Description:
Add more screen real estate to your computer's desktop with the 22-inch Acer AL2216Wbd LCD monitor, which features an elegantly sophisticated, stylish black casing. But more than just a monitor for your desktop or laptop PC, the AL2216Wbd is also an excellent choice for gamers with its blazing fast 5ms (millisecond) response time. It also offers a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. Other features include a 1680 x 1050-pixel resolution, dual DVI and VGA inputs, VESA compatibility for wall mounting, and user friendly controls on the front.

The monitor's 5ms response time is essential for hard-core gamers, and it's also great for watching high-intensity action movies with fast movement. It offers a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a monitor's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The screen also has a 170-degree horizontal and 160-degree vertical viewing angle.

The AL2216Wbd has a 22-inch screen (measured diagonally) that is framed by a thin, black bezel. The screen housing measures 20.2 inches wide by 16 inches tall. It sits upon a flat stand that measures 7.8 inches deep. Get just the right view with forward and backward tilting. The spare back includes just a power connector and the two video inputs: analog VGA and digital DVI with HDCP, which enables you to hook this monitor up to a cable or satellite set-top box for watching your favorite TV programs. It also supports Kensington locks for added security.

Tech Talk
  • HDCP -- High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a form of copy protection technology designed to prevent transmission of non-encrypted high-definition content as it travels across DVI or HDMI digital connections.

  • Response Time -- The amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to from active (black) to inactive (white) and back against to active (black). It's measured in milliseconds (ms), and the lower the number the faster the response time--translating to a smoother picture with fewer pixilated or ghosted artifacts.

Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Value
I placed an order for 2 to replace the bulky monitors we have here for over 10 years. What a difference the panel screen makes. Its sleak size allows more usable space on our desks. It provides more viewable space when surfing the net and much easier on the eyes when we have to stare at this for 8 hours a day.

I plan to order 2 more to replace the rest of the dinosaurs in the office.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Good monitor
Very Good Monitor. It has no adjustable high which I like, it is more sturdy and low. Comes with narrow edge, which is great for dual display, just to my feeling this is my third monitor I bought from thees. Never had any problem with any one of them at any time. If you are looking for something basic or for normal use, good quality and good price, you have definitely found it.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great monitor
The monitor was delivered very quickly. I had ordered it because I was diagnosed with an eye problem. I priced the monitors in several places and this was the best buy. I am very pleased with it.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent 22" Widescreen Monitor for Small Budgets
The Acer AL2216Wbd 22" monitor is an excellent value for large monitors. The low price does not indicate a "budget monitor". It has great build quality and a sturdy stand. It has great color and clear text on most of the preset user settings. It does have settings for a custom set up as well. I do recommend using the DVI input verses the ANALOG though, it gives the graphics and text a crisp edge.

I do light graphic work and needed something with a larger viewing space and I use to run 2 monitors but now I have all the space I need. It does not run hot and it is not overly bright. It is easy on the eyes, which was a concern of mine when shopping for a larger monitor.

Overall I strongly reccomend this monitor. It was shipped quick (4 days)and free to HAWAII! AT the price of $200.00 I can afford a second one. ALOHA!

On paper, the Mio DigiWalker P550 looks to be an attractive gadget for the mobile professional, combining the capabilities of a PDA and GPS into one device. However, its poor battery life and subpar navigation skills tell a different story.

Though it won't appeal to the masses quite yet, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a nice, portable device for on-the-go Web browsing, and it has some worthy upgrades.

Though it has a few design and performance glitches, the Sony Ericsson W300i is a quality, basic MP3 cell phone.

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.

But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.

Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."
