Editorial Product Review:Amazon.com Item Description:If you own a laptop, you know all about heat. Because today's notebooks rely on fast processors to do the job, they generate a lot of heat, with much of it landing directly in your lap. Some laptops can have a 'normal' operating temperature as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Not only is that unsafe and uncomfortable, it can also wear your laptop down, cause it to crash unexpectedly, and reduce its overall life expectancy.

The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to cradle your laptop in cooling comfort. |

Now you can be more comfortable while you work. |

A single high-capacity fan, which is powered by a USB port on your laptop, sits in the middle of the cooling stand. View larger. |

Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on a patented wave design and ergonomic features that will not only help protect your laptop by keeping it cool, but will also increase your comfort while you work. As part of Belkin's laptop@home line of accessories, the Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to help you to take full advantage of the benefits your laptop has to offer-- comfortably, economically, and stylistically.
Twice the Cooling Power, Half the Consumption In contrast to most other laptop coolers that use two fans to suck warm air from the laptop's bottom, the Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on the natural flow of heat and air circulation to do the hard work and needs only one fan to do the trick. Instead of drawing the laptop heat down to push it out, the stand takes full advantage of natural air flow and heat's natural tendency to rise by pushing the hot air upward through the channel and away from your laptop.
The single high-capacity fan, powered by a USB port on your laptop, sits in the middle of the cooling stand, and hot air is channeled out to the left and right sides of your laptop. The result is heat dissipation that's equal to a two-fan solution but that uses less than half the power. And because the fan is USB-powered, you won't have any bulky batteries or adapters (which can also both add heat!) to weigh you down. You simply place your laptop on the stand, pull the USB cable out of the convenient storage compartment, and plug it into your computer. The stand will take care of the rest.
Computing in Comfort and Style Measuring 12.6 x 11.6 x 1 inches (W x D x H), the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed for 15.4-inch or smaller laptops. To prevent slippage, the stand features rubber pads on the feet, and a small plastic panel folds out from the bottom of the stand that elevates the rear for better ergonomics. The gentle slope reduces wrist strain, and by raising the screen height, it also reduces neck strain that is common to laptop users.
Unlike the industrial gray and metallic appearance of other cooling stands, the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand offers an attractive, gently sloped look that you'll be proud to show off as you work. The stand's thin profile means that you can easily slide the stand into your notebook bag as you travel from meeting to meeting, or café to café. And weighing a mere 22 ounces, you'll hardly notice that it's in your bag.
Item Description:The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand prevents your laptop from overheating. The unique patented wave design uses natural convection to enhance fan cooling. This stand has low power consumption via your laptop's USB port with no bulky power adapters.

nice and works well
I've this for 2 months now. Have been using it almost everyday and most of the time I've the laptop on my lap for over 8 hrs a day. There are a few days when it's almost 80F inside but I seldom has to plug in the fan. Because of its curve shape, putting the laptop on it already allow some space for the heat to dispense. It also feel very comfortable on my lap. However, when it sits on the table, it put the laptop at an angle and I don't really like it though it's more a personal preference. Highly recommend it if you use your laptop on your lap a lot.

Complete junk
Fan started whining after 2 days. DC power jack snapped off a day later. Complete trash. And that's where I put it. Maybe this will work if you just want to use it on a table but for laptop use forget it. It's worthless. If I could give zero stars, that's what it would get.

Good Fan - Watch the smell
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RYETCWMKT7ZZ9 I've tried a couple cooling fans, and I really like this one. I have a 17" laptop and it gets very hot. The fan has been able to keep my laptop cool even after the laptop has been running for hours. The keyboard area of my laptop used to get so hot it became uncomfortable to type. It's now much better.
I thought one fan wouldn't be enough to cool my laptop, but it does a very nice job. The fan is quieter than other stands I've tried.
There is no USB hub on this cooling stand like others have, but it is light and compact. It will fit easily into my laptop bag so I can take it with me when traveling.
The cooling pad has a pop-out stand that will help elevate the back of the laptop if you place the cooling pad on a desk. Just be careful of the stand because it's easy to push back in if you're picking up the cooling pad and moving it. It would have been nice if the prop-up stand had rubber feet so that the stand wouldn't be a scratching hazard when using on a wood desk.
I don't know if it's this way with all models, but after using it for a few hours, I could really smell the glue they used to adhere the pads to the plastic base. Perhaps it's the smell of the pads themselves. I expect it to go away after a while since I just purchased it. If it weren't for the smell, I'd give it five stars.

Not recommended
I purchased this Belkin-laptop cooler a few days ago; I used it for approx. 6 hours. When I turned on my laptop today, I didn't think the cooler was on. It was securely plugged into my laptop and in the cooler its self. I lifted up my laptop and saw that the fan was not running. I grabbed it and touched the fan with my nail where it started running. Only now, it was very, very, very noisy. I unplugged the connection from the cooler and plugged it back in, it didn't start up automatically like it should've. I once again had to touch the blade with my nail to get it to start going where it still made a very loud noise.
