Almost perfect
For me, buying this turntable was a no-brainer when I purchased my first iMac three years ago - and I have loved it. It amazes me that Apple hasn't built this feature into their iMacs. Yes, the regular stand balances so well you can turn the computer without one of these, but this is smooth, effortless, and very convenient if you move your screen frequently - especially if you want to turn it 180 degrees. (I turn it from my office space toward my studio space when using my photos for artwork references.) It's extremely well designed and well-built. The only problem I've had (and hence 4-stars instead of 5) is that I found the 'feet' on the bottom of the turntable lefts marks on the top of my old oak desk. To alleviate this I cut a circle of foam core board to place under the unit. There are probably more aesthetic approaches but this has worked well enough for me. I was sorry to learn that the turntable's slot wouldn't accommodate the new 24" aluminum iMac I just purchased, but instead of buying the new larger turntable I have decided (for now) to just place the new aluminum base on top of my original white turntable and keep enjoying it!

Fantastic feature for the iMac
My wife & I share a home office and often swivel our monitors to each other to share ideas and concepts. The trouble with the iMac is that the base doesn't swivel so she's put a towel under her base to keep from scratching up the desk. I found out about the Rain Design's i360 and just had to get it... wow, really well built. Her iMac fit perfectly in the base and the little bracket that locks the iMac base into the i360 works really well.
The one thing I don't really get is the little punch-out cartoon images to place behind the clear rain-drop window in the top of the base. Very creative but too gimmicky with the little cardboard punch-outs so I didn't use them and just left it open which exposes the aluminum iMac base through the clear rain-drop so it's not bad at all.
Bottom line, this is a must-have for anyone with an iMac!

Useful, well designed, safe, and protective of furniture.
In response to previous naysayers: anyone who would put a $2000 iMac on a cheap plastic turntable is beggin' for the turntable to break or for the iMac to fall off if bumped. I'm sure it looks real pretty, too. Second, the reviewer who doesn't own one, shouldn't. I don't quite understand the compulsion to comment on something one doesn't own. I consider $40 a bargain price for great functional design.
I live in a small home and have a beautiful vintage wood desk. When I'm not working on it, I use my iMac to watch DVDs or to preview projects with clients, and the i360 alows me to SMOOTHLY orient my screen without scratching the desk surface. It's the difference between "shifting" the unit or having it pivot gracefully.
The base is very heavy and the unit secures to the base of the iMac with a hex wrench (included). The entire mechanism moves silently on ballbearings and protects the iMac against tipping over when being swiveled.
Put a picture of someone you love in the integrated raindrop frame, it makes the gadget feel even friendlier.

Rain design turnrable for IMAc G%
Rate this 5 stars because of its very high quality workmanship, and materials, very stable, easy to install and great functionality. Somewhat of a increased cost for such a device, but quality is worth it.Matches the console (white) very well.
