Buyer Reviews

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - performance
The Ilap 17 W is sturdy and the aluminum base makes an excellent heat dissipation sink. I use it in my MacBook Pro 17 inches which after prolong use gives off a lot of heat! I wish however if the height of the furthest end could have been adjusted so that the the user need not have to bend over.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Better than I expected!
I have only been using this laptop stand for about an hour, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. It has made using my laptop while sitting on my bed so much easier. My laptop would get to hot that it would literally feel like it was burning my legs and I would have to keep shifting to get comfortable, so this product has been a lifesaver. I have a 17' computer and it fits like a glove.

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not quite perfect
I only have two problems with this product.
First, the round cushion does not stay in place as well as it should. I often have to readjust it.
Second, and more importantly, the round cushion is not long enough to cover rounded but still fairly sharp metal corners of the base. Because of this, one does run the risk of getting poked, scraped or cut on one or both thighs. Not a real problem with jeans, but thinner fabrics don't shield as well.

Other than those two things, this is a very good product and does what was intended.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I LOVE IT!
I have tried many different ways of working with my laptop on my lap. As anyone who has done this knows, these buggers can get very warm! This is uncomfortable for the user and extremely bad for your laptop. (I learned this the hard way!) I had finally found an excellent, amazingly inexpensive, little rubber thing that held the computer at an angle to allow it to breath. So I got one of those padded lap desks and with the little rubber thing I was doing fine. Then my wonderful husband got me a 17" Wide screen laptop for Christmas. (my other one was a 14" regular screen) Well, that pretty much shot the little rubber thing out the water. It simply was not up to the task of a laptop that size.

I did some research, and everything pointed to either this one or the Lapinator. This one sounded a little better to me so I gave it a try. It works excellently! My laptop barely gets warm let alone my lap! It is very comfortable and as you need to shift for you own comfort, the swiveling back brace makes it easy to shift the laptop with you.

I originally purchased the 17" iLap from Amazon, but I didn't realize that the one they sell is for the Mac laptop, I have a PC laptop, which is a bit larger than the Mac. So I had to return it and purchase the larger one. It's only 1" larger in both length and width but it makes all the difference. I highly recommend this laptop stand!

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
